Shrewsbury Town play host to Hibernian
Shrewsbury Town have announced Scottish Cup holders Hibernian will be their final pre-season opponents on home turf at the end of the month.
Town will host Hibs in a friendly at the Greenhous Meadow on Sunday July 31, which will coincide with the club's annual Open Day for supporters.
The game will kick off at 12.30pm, with the event for supporters taking place before and after the match. Tickets will go on sale soon at a low rate.
Adults will pay just £10, with concessions £5 and Under-18s £1. Town start their League One season six days later at home to Milton Keynes Dons.
Chief executive officer Brian Caldwell told the club's website: "We are delighted that Hibs have agreed to the game.
"We did have some issues getting a game on the Sunday to coincide with the open day, but we have got one.
"I think it will be the first time that Hibs have visited the Greenhous Meadow and we look forward to welcoming them.
"It will be a 12:30pm kick-off and for the open day there will be activity before the game and plenty more afterwards.
"Jamie (Edwards) and his team in the community have a full list of events over the day and we will be announcing those shortly.
"Micky (Mellon, manager) is delighted that we have got Hibs, as he wanted a good test especially in the final pre season match.
"He knows that they are a good footballing side. It will be a good test for the players, in the lead up to the first day of the season.
"Hopefully, we can encourage as many local people along for the match and open day.
"Hibs are a good strong team and a big club in Scotland, so it will be a hard one for the team."
