Freed Shrewsbury Town trio teaming up
Freed Shrewsbury Town trio Scott Vernon, Jordan Clark and Mickey Demetriou have teamed up together to do pre-season after being released.
The three weren't offered new deals at the end of the season, so are keeping fit on their ow.
Meanwhile. their recent team-mates are being put through their paces in pre-season at the Greenhous Meadow.
Vernon, who is 32, said: "It's just a case of keeping fit.
"I'm doing it with a couple of friends who are in a similar situation – 'Clicker' (Clark) and Mickey Demetriou – and we're keeping each other going.
"We're getting together this week to work on the football side of things. Sometimes players in this situation only do running and they can neglect that side of it.
"When you go to a new club, you want to be as sharp as possible."
Vernon has been offered the chance to return to the Meadow to do pre-season if he can't find a new club.
He continued: "I was grateful to the manager (Micky Mellon) because he gave me the option of going in to train if I wasn't fixed up and said I was welcome to go back.
"I might take him up on the offer, if I don't get something sorted."
Vernon has recently returned from holiday and admits interest has been slow, adding: "I've had a few conversations with my agent to put the feelers out, but it's been really quiet,.
"If it means playing, I don't mind a couple of nights a week in a hotel."
