Bernard McNally: Tom Bradshaw close to Shrewsbury Town return

Shrewsbury Town coach Bernard McNally says striker Tom Bradshaw is fighting fit after recovering from a recent knee injury.

Bradshaw came through a lengthy run out for the reserves in Tuesday's 2-0 defeat against Walsall – his first since he suffered a knock in training six weeks ago.

The former Welsh under-21 international's return to action could not prevent a defeat for a very youthful Town second string.

But McNally, the club's head of youth coaching who has been leading the reserves with academy boss Steve Reece in recent weeks, was impressed with his individual display and in particular his fitness levels following his lay-off.

He said: "Tom did very well. We were pleased he got through 80 minutes and he looked bright and lively.

"After five or six weeks out to have had such a good game is pleasing and his fitness levels were good as well.

"Not only was I pleased but I know (manager) Mike Jackson would be as well."

Bradshaw's latest run-out should move him closer to contention for a return to the first team, where he has scored five goals in 26 appearances so far this season.
