Asa Hall hoping to earn Shrewsbury Town recall

Hall scored twice in three minutes immediately after coming off the bench against Colchester to salvage an unlikely 2-2 draw last Saturday, a point which kept Shrewsbury out of the League One relegation zone on goal difference.

Midfielder Hall, dropped following the crushing midweek defeat at home to Yeovil, admitted he was disappointed to lose his place in the side.

But he hopes his key role in the comeback will have given his manager something to think about.

"I was disappointed to lose my place but I thought when I got on I'd just test the keeper, show there were goals in me any maybe that would get me back into the team," he said.

"To score two goals, I couldn't have asked for anything better. I think I've been playing well when I've been in the team anyway and I really was disappointed to miss out.

"Hopefully it will send a message."

Former Birmingham, Luton Town and Oxford United midfielder Hall, who had previously enjoyed a loan spell with Shrewsbury in 2008, was Turner's first signing after promotion to League One in the summer.

But results have not gone to plan since he rejoined the club, with Town picking up 14 points from their 15 league games and enduring a barren run of one win in 10 in all competitions.

Despite the indifferent form, Hall believes the team spirit in the squad is alive and well, as proved by the comeback against Colchester.

"The boys have stuck together in the dressing room," 25-year-old Hall added.

"We're all together and I think it showed against Colchester."

Meanwhile, promising Shrewsbury goalkeeper Callum Burton is back at the Greenhous Meadow after his latest taste of international experience.

The first year scholar spent more than a week away with the England Under-17 squad, training at St George's Park at Burton, before travelling to Estonia to compete in the European Championships first qualifying round.
