Shrewsbury Town 4 Coventry 1
Shrewsbury Town bounced back from a rare home defeat in emphatic style by heaping the misery on struggling Coventry.
Town got off to the perfect start with Darren Jones nodding in a deep Paul Parry corner inside three minutes.
The hosts dominated the opening period and deservedly doubled their advantage in the 20th minute when Paul Parry's 22-yard free-kick nestled in the top corner, seemingly with the aid of a deflection off Matt Richards.
The game was put to bed in a two minute period just after the hour mark with Richards slotting home a penalty after Luke Summerfield had been brought down by William Edjenguelle before Marvin Morgan lashed home from 15 yards.
Coventry grabbed a consolation from the penalty spot as substitute John Fleck converted after Jermaine Grandison felled Gary McSheffrey on 75 minutes.
But that couldn't knock the gloss off Shrewsbury's night as they produced the perfect response to Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Scunthorpe.
