David Davis happy to stay at Shrewsbury Town

Influential on-loan midfielder David Davis has revealed he would be keen to remain at Shrewsbury for the remainder of their promotion push, declaring: "I'm loving it here."

The 19-year-old has helped Town to three successive victories in League Two since arriving on an initial month's loan from Premier League Wolves.

The latest triumph - a thrilling 5-1 success at in-form Lincoln on Tuesday night - equalled Shrewsbury's third best away League result in their history.

Davis, who has caught the eye in each of his displays to date, is thriving at the Greenhous Meadow - and would be interested in extending the loan deal if it was suitable to all parties.

"I'm loving it here," said Davis. "I have played every game so far and all the lads have made me feel welcome so I couldn't have asked for any more.

"I'm getting games and experience so hopefully it's benefitting both Shrewsbury and Wolves and I can stay for the rest of the season.

"We are playing good football, climbing the League and confidence is high.

"We are coming towards the end of the season and we mean business and want to go up."

Davis - who has been contacted by Wolves reserve team manager Steve Weaver during his time at Shrewsbury - was forced off with an ankle problem at half-time of Tuesday's victory.

But the teenager is confident he will recover in time to be available for Saturday's home clash with Stevenage.

"I got tackled and went over on it and it stiffened up at half-time," he added.

"We didn't want to risk it but I'm hoping I should be okay for Saturday."

Town saw last night's reserve team clash against Morecambe called off because the pitch at Kendal, where the game was due to be staged, was waterlogged.
