The former Hinckley AFC boss joins following the shock decision by Market Drayton to sack Martyn Davies earlier this week.

In a statement on the club website, chairman Ben Cockram was thrilled to welcome the new man in.

"We are delighted to welcome Carl Abbott to the club. He is a very impressive individual and has prepared well for the challenge ahead.

"Carl's success at Hinckley in both League and Cup competitions is something we are certain he will be able to replicate here at Greenfields.

“Carl is very well qualified and he is incredibly professional in his approach to football.

“Carl's appointment is a vital step in our ambition as a club to continue evolving into a more professional and competitive side that can keep pace with an ever-developing league.

"As we re-shape the club for the future Carl and his management team will work alongside us to develop both as a football team and as a business to ensure sustainability long into the future.”
