Tough call for Shawbury United

A controversial decision from the assistant referee meant Shawbury came back empty-handed from their trip to South Normanton Athletic.

With the score at 1-1, on-loan Shrewsbury keeper Jack Atkinson made a double save but the ball was ruled to have crossed the line.

Boss Dave Richards said: “The video showed not any of the ball had crossed the line as Jack’s hand was level with the post when making the save.

“I have to be fair to the linesman, we’ve had him a hundred times before and he’s always been decent.

“But it leaves us very disappointed when it would have been a fair result at 1-1.”

Adam Groom put Shawbury ahead in the first half and Ben Osi almost doubled the lead but his effort came back off the bar.

The hosts came back into the game after the break and levelled it up with 20 minutes to go through Luke Crosby before the same player grabbed the winner eight minutes from time.
