Everyone at AFC Telford has a part to play, says Rob Edwards

AFC Telford boss Rob Edwards has urged his fringe players to be firmly on their toes over the festive period.

There is a lot of competition for places among the Bucks squad at the moment.

Second top scorer Anthony Dwyer has not started the last four games while the likes of Matthew Barnes-Homer and Louis McGrory have been struggling to make matchday squads.

On the competition, Edwards said: “We need that and there will be periods over the next month or so where we may pick up a few injuries, or some players’ form might take a bit of a dip.

“It’s a squad game. Gone are the days where you could go with 12 or 13 players for the whole season – it doesn’t work like that.

“We will need everyone. Those who haven’t been playing have been working really hard and we keep reminding everyone that they all have an important role to play here.”

On if there will be any signings announced soon, Edwards added: “There definitely won’t be anything before the weekend.

“But after that, we’ll see.”
