AFC Telford's John Marsden expected to miss Alfreton game

AFC Telford United boss Rob Edwards has revealed John Marsden is unlikely to be over an ankle injury for tomorrow's clash against Alfreton Town.

The 24-year-old attacker has been on the sidelines since limping off in the 2-0 win at North Ferriby United on October 21.

He is making good progress, doing one-to-one sessions put on by physio Jake Roe, but Edwards feels Tuesday's game against Tamworth is a more likely return date.

"I think Alfreton will (be too soon)," he said.

"I think tomorrow will be too soon as he needs to be training with the rest of the group and be in match situations, getting that contact.

"We may get him involved on Tuesday – that might be an option, we'll see."

Marsden is one of two Bucks players that are out with ankle injuries, the other being former skipper Jack Rea – who has not played since August and is not expected to be back for at least a few more weeks.

Telford go into tomorrow's encounter at the New Bucks Head on a four-match winless run.

They are 14th in National League North after 17 games – four points off the play-offs and six ahead of the drop zone.

Alfreton have played one more and are two places below in the table.

They have lost four on the bounce in the league, the latest being a 3-2 defeat at FC United of Manchester – who the Bucks lost 3-1 to last weekend – on Tuesday night.

"We have done our homework on them, they have had a tough run – played a lot of the top teams and only really lost by the odd goal," said Edwards.

"Every game is hard, but this one in particular as they'll really be fighting for a result – as will we.

"Results have not gone our way over the last few weeks but the good thing is the performances are there.

"It has not been for a full 90 minutes, but we have been creating chances and in games.

"I am sure Alfreton feel the same as us."

The Bucks will be without suspended duo Ross White and Jon Royle.

Edwards added: "I think that it will come down to fine margins – they are strong at set pieces, effective from those.

"We will have to battle really hard."
