Curzon Ashton 1 AFC Telford 0 - Report and pictures
[gallery] Telford United had a day to forget after they lost 1-0 away to Curzon Ashton on a wind swept afternoon.
The bucks started the game brightly and looked to try and create chances on goal in the first ten minutes, with high balls being played to their big men up front Hassan and Hibbert.
But they began to lose their composure and were put on the back foot towards the end of the first half.
No real chances came though and the game had to wait until the later stages of the second half for the first and only goal.
Jonathan Hunt fired home after latching onto the rebounded ball from Montgomery's effort to palm the ball away from the corner.
McCarthy and Rowe were then thrown on following that goal to try and rescue the game for Telford, and despite both coming close to scoring, the Bucks failed to equalise.
Telford started the game brightly, playing on the front foot for the first ten minutes.
They looked to play down their right wing and create some chances by launching crosses into the box.
Hassan and Hibbert were the main targets - they tried to use their size and strength to get in on goal early on.
Both teams were a lot more matched after ten minutes, with both sides playing fast and fluid passing to each try and push up the field.
However Telford began to lose some of their composure as the half progressed, and soon found their selves on the back foot.
It took some last ditched tackles and smart saving from Montgomery to keep the home side out, who were putting Telford under pressure.
Telford were cut wide open when Jack Truelove sent the defence swaying left and right with his dribbling, before firing low into the path of Montgomery who pushed the shot behind for a corner.
The second half remained the same for the Bucks, who remained under pressure from the visitor's.
And their pressure soon paid off when Hunt fired home from a loose ball after a Curzon corner.
McCarthy and Rowe were brought on to try and salvage the game but they could not grasp the vital goals.
The result still leaves Telford rock bottom of the National North league as they are still yet to rise up the table from the relegation zone.
