Rob Smith in plea to keep his loan star
AFC Telford United boss Rob Smith was today hoping to extend the loan of defender Graham Hutchison.
The FC Halifax centre-back's month at The New Bucks Head is due to expire this week after he played his final available match in Saturday's 1-0 defeat at AFC Fylde.
Smith was always cautious about whether the 22-year-old would be able to remain at the club as the Shaymen have a new manager, Darren Kelly, in place of Neil Aspin, who allowed Hutchison to come to Telford.
In addition Halifax were walloped 7-1 at home to Cheltenham at the weekend and Kelly is looking at options to strengthen.
"I really want to keep Graham and I've asked the question – but we haven't heard anything back yet," said Smith.
Meanwhile, Smith is looking for his players to follow the example of Kyle Brownhill. The former Hyde left-back was thrown in for a rare appearance at Fylde on Saturday after waiting a long time for his chance in place of the injured Izak Reid.
"Kyle did really well and was a breath of fresh air for us," said the boss.
