Campion plays the tough guy for Bucks

AFC Telford United boss Rob Smith is seeking "11 Darren Campions" to drag the Bucks up the table.

Tough-guy centre-back Campion was expected to put himself through the pain barrier today and play in the home game against Harrogate, despite straining ligaments in his shoulder in last week's 1-0 defeat at Bradford Park Avenue.

Smith, who has allowed Jack Roberts to join Rushall Olympic on a month's loan, wants all his players to show the same guts and determination as the recent arrival from his former club Hednesford.

"If I can get 11 Darren Campions, we'll be alright," said the Bucks chief.

"He went to the hospital on Tuesday and has strained ligaments in his shoulder but I know him and he'll be fit for today.

"He'll strap it up and he'll play – I knew that last Saturday – because that's the way he is and that's the sort of character I need around the place."

Meanwhile, Smith is hoping to see Mike Grogan pull on a Telford shirt again soon.

The 25-year-old midfielder hasn't played this season after damaging his knee in the friendly against Market Drayton on August.

Grogan was sent for a scan which was delayed three times and now they are still awaiting the results.

But the good news is he is able to train.

"'Groges' trained on Tuesday night but we're awaiting the results on his scan," said Smith.
