Rob Smith: We can take positives

Returning Bucks boss Rob Smith refuses to be felt sorry for as his side threw everything but the kitchen sink at a resolute Gloucester City in his first game back in charge but still came away empty-handed.

The former Hednesford Town man believes it has been very much a case of same old story this season for his new charges.

"It's probably what's been going on all season for us I imagine. So many chances, there were enough for two games. But a lot of positive signs out there, the effort was certainly there.

"I think there was some poor finishing and good goalkeeping, with a mistake from our keeper at the end of the day that's the difference between the sides. We don't want any hard luck stories we want to get on with it.

"You'd be more worried if we weren't creating chances. We had the camped in right till the end but that's the way football goes and that's how it has been for Telford, but we don't want anyone to feel sorry for us.

"I've seen enough Conference North games to know we're not a million miles away, we can strengthen and it's certainly no panic for me.

"I thought Lucas and Darren had good debuts. It's tough to come in straight away to a place like this but both of them dug in there and were solid, we have Monday come around thick and fast and we'll make sure we're ready for then.

"Danny (Glover) would have liked to have put a couple of those chances away but he will get there - again it has been the story of the club's season so far."
