Steve Kittrick sacked by AFC Telford
AFC Telford have sacked Steve Kittrick, the club have confirmed.
The 57-year-old had been in charge at the New Bucks Head for just eight months and leaves with the club bottom of the National League North, having taken just one point from the opening five games.
A brief statement on the club's website claimed the former Guiseley boss had departed by "mutual consent" but the Shropshire Star understands the manager was informed of his dismissal via telephone by Bucks chairman Ian Dosser.
After wishing Kittrick well for the future, the club's statement continued: "The club board and trust board are aligned and a further statement will be made over the next few days."
He was unable to mastermind a great escape and spent the summer overhauling the squad in preparation for what was hoped would be a promotion challenge in non-league's second tier.
But the season began badly with a 3-0 defeat Lowestoft and Saturday's 2-0 loss to Gainsborough, when the team were booed off, was their third reverse in a row and proved to be the final straw.
