AFC Telford unlikely to add to their ranks

AFC Telford United are unlikely to bring any more new faces in this season, manager Steve Kittrick has warned today.

The Bucks boss has placed his faith in the young side that has so far gone three games without scoring a goal but believes a win is just around the corner.

Telford will also hope to see some of their key players returning from injury soon – but Mike Grogan will have a scan this week to find out the extent of the knee injury he picked up in pre-season.

There is also concern over Danny Glover, who suffered a slight knock in the 1-0 home defeat against Stockport on Saturday but is hopeful of making the team for tomorrow night's match at Tamwort

Kittrick said: "Danny's picked up a knock so we'll have to see what's what on Tuesday. Grogan will scan on Saturday, so we'll know more then.

"But Dave Hibbert could be ready for Saturday, which means Izak Reid can play a bit further up the pitch. We'll have a bit of a different shape to us then.

"The thing about it is getting the experience and getting the right person in. I have spoken to lots of people to try and get them here.

"Sometimes, you need players who can verbally pull players around. Unless someone jumps out, we're not looking for anyone at the moment."

Kittrick refused to blame his players for their second defeat in three games and praised them for creating chances.

He said: "We've got to dust ourselves down for the next game and be as professional as we were on Saturday. Let's just see where we are next year, because that's what it's all about.

"We don't want teams to get too far away from us, but all you need to do in a league like this is go on a bit of a run for four or five games and you're back where you need to be.

"We know we have one or two players who sometimes switch off so we need to work on that, get into them in the right way without them feeling you're picking on them.

"It's work in progress – but we will get there."
