AFC Telford complete a double signing
AFC Telford United have completed the double signing of midfielders Jack Rea and Alex Fletcher, boss Steve Kittrick has confirmed today.
Rea, who initially signed for the Bucks in January, managed only five games before picking up a serious knee injury in March.
The Cardiff-born midfielder, who Kittrick paid £10,000 for while in charge at Guiseley, has been re-signed after he proved his fitness since joining up with the squad for pre-season training.
Fletcher joins after also impressing following his release from Shrewsbury Town. Both players have signed one-year deals.
Kittrick said: "I'm delighted to finalise the deals for Jack and Alex – they are both very good signings.
"Jack I know very well from my days at Guiseley, I was willing to pay money for him then and I've always kept a close eye on his career.
"We didn't see the best of him last season, but I still think when he lost him it was a big loss. I think once the season starts everyone will see what a good player he is."
The Bucks boss was also pleased with the capture of Fletcher, who he feels can challenge for a first-team spot now but is also a player for the future.
He said: "Alex is a young lad with a lot of ability who lives in the Telford area. He's big, strong and has not looked out of place at all in training.
"Getting him in is a real positive. He can play now but I can see him being a really important player for the club in the future.
"He will get the first-team experience he needs to develop in the right way."
Meanwhile, Kittrick confirmed talks are ongoing to bring in former Derby County centre-back Pablo Mills on a permanent basis.
He's also hoping to secure a loan deal for Cheltenham Town defender Jack Deaman. He added: "I'm very interested in both players, talks remain ongoing."
