Izak Reid in the frame for AFC Telford
Winger Izak Reid is in the frame to replace AFC Telford United casualty Josh Brizell – as a deal for former Liverpool youngster Craig Roddan hung in the balance.
Attack-minded right-back Brizell has been ruled out for between six to eight weeks after breaking his wrist in two places, giving boss Steve Kittrick an early selection headache.
The former Hyde player had been at the forefront of Kittrick's plans behind a promotion push for the Bucks.
But now he has had to think again – and doesn't want to be dipping into the transfer market again.
A disappointed Kittrick said: "Izak Reid can play right-back so he's one option we have – but whether or not we do that is another kettle of fish.
"I would prefer to use what we've got around us, in terms of a replacement, because Josh is very important to what we want to do this season.
"We've got a couple of trialists that we want to have a look at as well. We will have to wait and see what happens this week."
Versatile Reid is mainly a right winger but has spent long chunks of his six years with Macclesfield Town at full-back. He's played every position on the pitch, apart from goalkeeper and centre-back.
Kittrick still can't believe how unlucky Brizell was after going down in training, adding: "It was freakish.
"He just over-ran the ball as he went down the line and slipped and put his right hand out to stop himself and it just gave way.
"Everyone thought he would just get up, but he ended up breaking his wrist in two places."
Meanwhile, it should become clear tonight if midfielder Roddan becomes a Telford player or not.
The 22-year-old former Anfield academy graduate has trained three times with the Bucks and has spoken to Kittrick about a deal.
