Telford look to add steel
Boss Steve Kittrick hopes to close in on a midfield enforcer to add some steel to AFC Telford's promotion push.
Kittrick believes the Bucks need a ballwinner in the middle of the park to complement the array of midfield talent he has at his disposal after missing out on Gateshead's Andrai Jones, who has joined Conference Premier side Southport.
The Bucks chief has added Tom Thorley, Jordan Goddard and Danny O'Callaghan this summer to bolster a midfield already boasting Sean Clancy and Mike Grogan.
But Kittrick wants a ball-winning type to bring out the best in the other central midfielders.
"We've got some really good footballers here and a good mix of passers and some who like to sit, and others who look to break forward and have a pop at goal such as Danny," said the boss.
"But I just feel we could do with someone who can get at people and put a foot in if needs be, because it's a tough league where you need to mix it at times."
Kittrick believes Telford can be successful next season with a mix of style and steel.
"In the Conference, it's much of a muchness but in the Conference North there are all sorts of different tests," he said.
"You might go to Alfreton where you have to be big and strong, so if you've got that option, you might need it.
"But a lot of players who have filtered down like to play – look at AFC Fylde last season who played fantastic football."
