Boss Steve Kittrick has offered contracts to two un-named targets – a midfielder and a striker – while the club have accepted a fee for Farrell.

Stalybridge Celtic, managed by former Bucks boss Liam Watson, have come in for Farrell, who has a year left on his contract. Byrne has done a U-turn and decided to try his luck with a full-time Conference Premier club on a lesser contract.

As for the pending arrivals, Kittrick said: "We've offered a midfielder terms and we should find out about that one today.

"We're waiting for him to come back to us and say 'yes' or 'no'.

"At this moment in time, he's trialling with a Conference Premier club who have also offered him a deal and it's up to him which club he chooses."

Kittrick is also hopeful of landing another striker to join Dave Hibbert.

"We're hoping to get that done today," he said. "He's a player who's played a lot of Conference North football and been very successful."

Byrne had initially told Kittrick he was going to stay and came off the transfer list.

But the defender has reconsidered a lesser offer to join a full-time Conference Premier club and looks set to leave.

Kittrick confirmed former AFC Fylde midfielder Farrell's departure after two years with the club that included winning the Conference North title in 2013-14 then relegation from the Conference Premier last term.

"Adam Farrell will be leaving the club," said Kittrick. "We've accepted an undisclosed offer for him and it should be finalised today."

Kittrick paid tribute to the midfielder, saying: "He's a good lad in the dressing room who is respectful and he said to me if his work situation hadn't changed, he'd stay at Telford.

"He's done everything asked of him but he's a supply teacher and he's been promoted.

"We understand his wishes – there's no point in keeping an unhappy player."
