Izak Reid vows to spark AFC Telford
New signing Izak Reid today vowed to put a spark into AFC Telford United as he tipped the team for the top.
The 25-year-old right winger has signed a one-year deal with Steve Kittrick's side.
He's swapping another crack at the full-time game for an apprenticeship as an electrician and a part-time role with the Bucks.
Reid joins Telford after finally reaching a settlement on the final 12 months of his deal with Barrow.
And he wants to lead Telford back to the non-league big time by exciting the fans.
He said: "I'm an energetic player who likes to create things. I like to provide a service to the forwards. I think it's very realistic for Telford to be looking to get promoted.
"Speaking to the gaffer, he's quite enthusiastic about the way he wants to play and I know from playing against his Guiseley teams that he likes to play free-flowing football.
"He's also brought players with a good pedigree to the club such as Dave Hibbert, so I'm excited about the move."
Reid spent six seasons in League Two, making 146 appearances for Macclesfield Town from 2006-11 before adding a further 54 games in two years at Morecambe.
In 2013, he joined Brackley Town and scored 12 goals in 56 matches as they finished seventh in Conference North behind champions Telford.
Then followed an injury-hit spell at Barrow last season where he still managed 27 outings in all competitions, as the Cumbrians swept to the Conference North title.
Reid is relieved to be back in the region and revealed he has always wanted to play for Telford.
He said: "One of the biggest things for me is to be playing nearer home. I'm also very pleased to be joining Telford because it's a club I've always been very aware of and wanted to play for.
"It's a big non-league club, especially in Conference North, so once I got the telephone call, I didn't need to speak to any other clubs and it was a case of getting things sorted at Barrow."
