AFC Telford bring back Kyle Brownhill

AFC Telford United have made their second signing in as many days with the arrival of Hyde left-back Kyle Brownhill.

The 20-year-old defender returns to Telford on a one-year deal after a loan spell at the New Bucks Head last season when he impressed during three months, initially under Liam Watson.

Brownhill, who follows Leamington attacker Jordan Goddard as the latest arrival, made 26 appearances for Hyde last season as they finished bottom of Conference North.

But boss Steve Kittrick had no hesitation in snapping up the youngster, who made eight Conference Premier appearances for Telford on loan.

Kittrick said: "When he became available he was one of the first young lads I wanted to sign. When his loan spell ran out we tried to get him back, but Hyde couldn't let him come.

"But he's young and hungry, he's got a good left foot, he's aggressive when he needs to be, he's quick, strong and he's got good delivery.

"He plays full-back but he can play further forward and he really wants to play more as a winger."

Kittrick is convinced Brownhill has the right attitude to play for Telford.

The manager said: "He didn't take a lot of persuading to come – he wants to come here and he wants to help Telford get back in the Conference Premier.

"He really has been 100 per cent in his commitment to come here. He's a good player, he's a good lad and he'll buy into what we're doing, so I'm delighted."

Brownhill began his career at fellow Conference North outfit Stockport and made five appearances for County in the Conference Premier over two seasons, before moving to Burnley at the age of 18.

He was released by the Clarets without playing a League game and returned to the non-league game at Hyde.

And Kittrick, who hopes to add two or three more signings, believes Telford can benefit from the youngster's desire to return to the full-time game.

He added: "Kyle's long-term aim is to get back into the Football League and we've said to him we won't stand in his way."
