Lee Carter delighted by AFC Telford deals
AFC Telford United managing director Lee Carter has been delighted with the club's close-season recruitment.
Manager Steve Kittrick's summer overhaul of the team continued yesterday with the capture of Hednesford Town midfielder Tom Thorley on a one-year deal.
The Bucks have also agreed terms to retain highly-rated 20-year-old goalkeeper James Montgomery for next season.
The news comes just a day after they completed deals to keep Ian Sharps and midfielder Mike Grogan, as well as bringing in former Solihull midfielder Jay Denny.
Sean Clancy and John Disney are also staying, while striker Neil Harvey and defender Mat Bailey were snapped up last week.
Carter said: "We are delighted with all the signings we have made so far, the two yesterday particularly.
"Tom Thorley has been an outstanding performer at the level of football that we are going in to and he is still relatively young.
"The manager would be better placed to describe how he fits into our team but from what I have seen of him he is a hard-working player who has got that bit of creativity as well.
"He was an outstanding performer at Worcester and Hednesford, so we are delighted to have him here.
"He is only 25, as well, so there is still time for him to develop here and push us on to where we want to be."
Montgomery has impressed hugely since he joined the Bucks on non-contract terms in March.
And Carter added: "James Montgomery is also young, has got potential, he clearly loves the club and has enjoyed his time here.
"He's not been here for too long but in the short time he has been here he's certainly made an impact.
"He wants to give his all for the club and that is important. That is what we are trying to build."
At least one more signing is expected to be unveiled this week and Carter said: "I think it is a case of being patient with our recruitment, but there will be more to come."
