Welsh league club's move for Bucks ace Tony Gray

The race to sign Tony Gray is hotting up after the League of Wales emerged as a possible destination for the in-demand AFC Telford striker.

Bucks boss Steve Kittrick claims the 31-year-old has received a "fantastic" offer from an unnamed club across the border.

Gray is also being pursued by clubs in the Conference Premier and Conference North, but Kittrick has not given up hope of keeping the 19-goal hotshot at the New Bucks Head.

"Tony has got a lot to think about," he said.

"He has had some good offers from clubs in the Conference Premier and Conference North, while I know he has had a fantastic offer from the Welsh league.

"He's also had a good offer from us.

"It's up to Tony at the end of the day. He's had a really good year, finishing among the division's top four goalscorers.

"I don't think it's all about the money, I think the travelling had become a little bit of an issue too."

Kittrick believes Gray will have to get used to being a marked man next season, no matter where he ends up playing.

"People know about him now," added Kittrick.

"He is going to have to get used to that."

Kittrick intends to sit down with several out of contract players tomorrow to discuss their futures, while the appointment of an assistant manager is also imminent.

Former Birmingham City player Chris Holland, who was Kittrick's No.2 at Guiseley, is known to be on a shortlist of two but the manager is still to make his final decision.

"There are still a couple of things I need to check," said Kittrick.

"A lot of it will come down to commitment, how much time they are able to put in. For me, getting an assistant will be a huge help."
