Steve Kittrick praises Telford's final flourish
Manager Steve Kittrick has praised his troops after their belated fightback saw AFC Telford United avoid a bottom place finish in the Conference Premier.
The already-relegated Bucks finished third from bottom despite Saturday's 2-1 defeat at home to Wrexham in their final game of the season.
That was Telford's first loss in their last five matches, although their late flourish could not prevent relegation.
Kittrick was pleased to see the team haul themselves off the foot of the table after spending most of the campaign there.
He said: "There were a lot of disappointed people in the changing room afterwards, because we wanted to get something out of the game.
"We have been on a good run lately and but I am a bit flat with it all because I expected to get something from it.
"But the season is all over now and we have finished third bottom. Nobody even gave us a chance of even getting off the bottom of the table.

"But we have done that and the players have done everything I have asked them to do. They thought they deserved a point so they are all disappointed.
"I look back at games against Grimsby and Forest Green where we stayed in the game for long periods of time, and there were other games where we have had it nicked off us by one mistake.
"I have criticised one or two when I first came and told them they were Conference North players but there's one or two that have proved me wrong.
"I said that for a reason, to get a reaction and I got a reaction. "
But Kittrick was still frustrated to see his team end their campaign with a defeat, after shipping another avoidable goal from Luke Waterfall 15 minutes from the end.
He said: "Sometimes it is not very pretty but we are organised and we make it difficult for teams.
"At half time we had to make some changes, and we matched them in midfield, we went with a diamond like they were doing and I thought we might get something out of it.
"But it is a mistake on the edge of their box that has cost us. "
