Jack Rea another who wants to stay at Telford

AFC Telford United midfielder Jack Rea has joined a lengthening list of players willing to sign up to next season's push for an instant return to non-league's top tier.

Striker Tony Gray, midfielder Godfrey Poku and utility man Sean Clancy have all voiced an interest in remaining at the New Bucks Head.

And Rea, who signed from Bradford Park Avenue in January on a deal until the end of the season, has also told manager Steve Kittrick he would like to stay on, following relegation from the Conference Premier.

Kittrick is keen to retain the 24-year-old's services, provided he can overcome a knee injury which has curtailed his season.

Rea has made made just five league appearances for Telford and has yet to feature for the club since March 10.

Kittrick said: "He is seeing a specialist either this week or next week to assess his knee. He's not going to play again this season, but he has told me he wants to stay at Telford.

"He wants to test himself and I am sure that he will help us get where we need to be as long as he gets his knee sorted."

Rea made a winning start to his Telford career, playing 84 minutes as they defeated Aldershot 2-1 away on January 4. He then had a key role in a 4-0 away win over Wrexham.

But he lasted just 10 minutes of the Bucks' 1-0 home defeat to Halifax on January 27 because of injury, making only two further appearances.

The Bucks are likely to be missing the versatile Mike Grogan for Saturday's clash at Altrincham, because of a mouth infection.

But centre-back Rod McDonald looks set to return to the squad having overcome a sickness bug.

Kittrick said: "I think Rod should be all right this weekend, but I don't think Mike will be."
