James Montgomery set to fill in for Bucks
AFC Telford United goalkeeper James Montgomery is the front-runner to fill in for Bermuda-bound Freddy Hall next week.
Hall will be away from the New Bucks Head for eight days after being called up by his country for a two-legged World Cup pre-qualifier against the Bahamas.
And Montgomery, 20, will be tasked with covering the first choice custodian's absence for matches against Braintree on Tuesday and Dover next Saturday.
Montgomery, who played under Telford boss Steve Kittrick when he managed Guiseley, was snapped up on non-contract terms earlier this month.
And Kittrick said: "We are going to miss Freddy but we have got James. He will step in and do a good job.
"We have got to look at him – he's a good keeper and he is going to step into Freddy's shoes unless anything else happens in the meantime.
"He has come here, he is confident, he is looking forward to playing and his debut may be against Braintree on Tuesday on the TV."
Montgomery's only competitive outing for Telford saw him play the second-half of their Shropshire Senior Cup final defeat to Shrewsbury Town's youth team.
But Kittrick said he has improved since he was at Guiseley, the club he left in September 2013 to take up a scholarship at the Nike Academy based in Loughborough.
He said: "He went to the Nike Academy a week before I left. He's a good kid, he's 20 years old now and he's bigger and stronger.
"You don't play in that Nike Academy if you are a bad player. He's another young player we can look to for next season."
Hall will join up with his Bermuda teammates on Sunday with the first leg of their tie taking place in the Bahamas on Wednesday and the second leg back in Bermuda four days later.
Kittrick added: "I am pleased for him. When I first came here he was second choice goalkeeper.
"He was knocking on my door saying 'give me a chance' and when I have he has taken it."
