Manager Steve Kittrick has told AFC Telford United to show pride in the last eight matches of the season following Saturday's 3-1 home defeat to Woking.

That result has left the Bucks' Conference Premier status hanging by a thread, as the gap between themselves and safety widened to 14 points.

Kittrick, who took over the managerial reins in December, is refusing to throw in the towel despite the gravity of the situation.

But he said: "I have said to them that it is about your pride now. You have got to do it for the club and you have got to want to put a shift in and work hard.

"And we will find out over the next eight games now if it means enough to enough people. Nobody wants a relegation on their CV, least of all me.

"Until it is mathematically not possible to stay up, we are not going to give up."

Kittrick will not allow his players to dwell on their latest disappointing result, with Gateshead set to visit the New Bucks Head tomorrow night.

He said: "I have told the players they have got to dust themselves down, look at the mistakes that we have made and we have got to bounce back and have a go at Gateshead tomorrow.

"We have got eight games left now and we have got to enjoy it, and until it is mathematically not right I am not going to give up and nobody in that changing room is going to give up.

"They are feeling down, it is hard but we have got to keep going."

Meanwhile, Telford have been boosted off the field by the announcement of substantial funding to help redevelop facilities at the New Bucks Head.

Managing director Lee Carter said: "We have had the fantastic announcement of £250,000 worth of funding to improve facilities at the New Bucks Head can be match funded by the Football Foundation."
