Glenn Matthews extends loan deal at AFC Telford United
AFC Telford boss Steve Kittrick has bolstered his defensive ranks by extending the loan of Bolton youngster Glenn Matthews until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old, a product of the Championship club's youth academy, joined the Bucks on a month's deal back in January.
But Kittrick has moved to extend the spell, with the former Guiseley boss adamant fans are yet to see the best of the left-hand side defender.
"I'm very pleased we have extended the deal because Glenn is a good young player," the boss said.
"I don't think we have seen the best of him yet and there is still a lot more to come. The good news is that the deal was all wrapped up in time for him to be part of the squad that faces Torquay today so we travel down there full of confidence."
Kittick is still looking for further new recruits in a bid to re-ignite Telford's quest to avoid the drop from the Conference Premier.
"We will wait to see how how this weekend but I am monitoring one or two," he said. "I think quite a few players will be made available for loan in the coming weeks. But I only want to bring in players that I think will really improve the squad because at the moment all the lads are training well."
n Telford legend Ryan Young insists the Bucks will bounce back from their current struggles.
Young, who is the club's record appearance holder, spent seven years at the New Bucks Head before departing for Havant & Waterlooville last summer.
In that time the talented goalkeeper enjoyed two promotions and a Setanta Shield victory, but also endured the pain of relegation with the club in 2012-13.
"If Telford go down it will be bad but I guarantee they will bounce back," he said. "That is the best thing about the club. I have been there (in a relegation battle) and we had probably one of the worst records in the country going 30 games without a win.
"But it's a football club that always bounces back. They always do and they always will."
Young admits his heart is still with the Bucks despite the goalkeeper enjoying life at current club Havant & Waterlooville.
"I am going out there, doing my job and I think I am doing it OK," he said
"They have offered me a new contract but it took a lot for me to leave Telford.
"I spent seven years there and really my heart is still with the club."
