Steve Kittrick tells AFC Telford to get at hosts
Manager Steve Kittrick reckons AFC Telford United must exploit Eastleigh's defensive frailties to fire themselves off the foot of the Conference Premier table.
Neither of Telford's nearest rivals in the bottom four, Nuneaton and Dartford, are in league action tomorrow.
As a result, the Bucks will travel to the Silverlake Stadium knowing victory would lift them off the bottom of the league for the first time in several months.
Kittrick said: "I think for the effort the lads have put in, and everybody else behind the scenes, it would be good to get off the bottom because we haven't been for a long time. It would be a massive plus."
Telford lost the reverse fixture against the Spitfires 4-3 at home in December, and Kittrick is fully aware of Eastleigh's potent attacking threats.
But at the other end, Richard Hill's side have been far from water-tight at the back having shipped 40 goals in 29 matches.
Kittrick was in the stands at the New Bucks Head for the last meeting between the sides, having then been unveiled as Liam Watson's successor two days later.
He said: "I was in the stand for the last game between the sides when Tony Gray scored a hat-trick for Telford, so we know they can be got at.
The match will end a 10-day enforced lay-off for the Bucks who have seen two games – last weekend's trip to Grimsby and a home friendly against Birmingham City Under-21s – postponed since their 1-0 defeat at home to Halifax.
Meanwhile, Kittrick is continuing his search for new recruits ahead of the loan window re-opening next week with a striker and a centre-half top priorities.
He told supporters at a fans' forum last night: "We are very close to (signing) two very good players that have played at this level."
Managing director Lee Carter added that there are likely to be 'four or five' departing the club in the other direction as a result.
