Bolton defender trains with AFC Telford
AFC Telford United manager Steve Kittrick is casting an eye over young Bolton Wanderers defender Glenn Matthews.
The 20-year-old full-back has been given permission to train with the Bucks with a view to a possible loan move.
Kittrick said: "He's another good young player. He has got a good pedigree and we are having a look at our options.
"He can play two positions, he can play left-back and left-midfield, so he would give us that balance. Bolton want him to go out and get some games in the Conference.
"He has been recommended to us very highly. He's an aggressive player. He had a bad knee injury last year and has come back from it.
"Now they want him to go out and get some games."
Matthews graduated from the Trotters' academy to sign his first professional contract last May. He made six appearances for Wanderers' development squad last season.
But he missed the final third of the campaign after injuring the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, as well as tearing cartilage. He underwent surgery in April.
Kittrick has already signed four new recruits since arriving at the New Bucks Head at the end of December, but is keen to add two more.
He said: "We have got irons in fires and we are close to a couple of things. But there are players being offered deals all over the place so it is a case of wait and see."
He's signed Bradford Park Avenue midfielder Jack Rea and Chester full-back John Disney, along with loans for Everton youngster Ben McLaughlin and Notts County prospect Kyle Dixon.
Kittrick added there may be the possibility of taking another young Toffees star on loan, although he would not name the player.
Dixon's involvement appears uncertain after he expressed a desire to go back to Boston, where he was on loan before.
