Steve Kittrick targets a double for AFC Telford
AFC Telford United manager Steve Kittrick is rallying his men for a war on two fronts as he looks to build confidence in the ranks.
The Bucks are a full 11 points from the Conference Premier safety line with 18 games left, but the former Guiseley manager will not throw in the towel on a survival push.
Four games unbeaten since Kittrick took the managerial helm, Telford take on Wrexham at the Racecourse Ground on Saturday.
And, with the twice-postponed FA Trophy second-round tie at AFC Fylde looming next Tuesday, the Telford chief is ready to attack the rest of the campaign.
Kittrick said: "It would be great to have a bit of a cup run and it would also be great to get three points on Saturday.
"But I am not looking any further than getting organised for Saturday and then getting the Fylde game on."
Kittrick insists his squad, which has been reduced by injuries in recent weeks, is strong enough to compete on two fronts.
He said: "They are under no illusions as to what is expected of them. I am not expecting anyone to do anything that they can't do and I just think the massive thing is confidence."
The Bucks were originally due to face Fylde last Saturday, but the game was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch. Efforts to get the tie playable last Tuesday were then scuppered by bad weather.
Should the Bucks beat the Conference North leaders, they will visit Evo-Stik Premier League side FC United of Manchester – two flights lower in the pyramid – in round three.
Kittrick warned: "FC United are playing well at the moment. Everyone at our level wants to do well in the trophy.
"It's a realistic way of getting to Wembley, but let's not get ahead of ourselves."
