Jack Rea loving step up with AFC Telford

New AFC Telford United midfielder Jack Rea has no qualms about making the step up to the Conference Premier.

Rea, who has joined the Bucks on a deal until the end of the season from Conference North side Bradford Park Avenue, is determined to build on a winning start with his new club.

The new-boy impressed on his debut in the 2-1 win over Aldershot, saying: "It's a big challenge for me playing in this league.

"But it is something that I am relishing and I can't see why I can't do it. I played in this league when I was 18. I got my chance at Chester and I felt like I could play at this level."

Telford remain 11 points adrift of safety at the foot of the table, but they are unbeaten in their last four matches and Rea is adamant that there is still time to overturn that massive points deficit.

He said: "I wouldn't have come here if I didn't think that. We have won at Aldershot and we will go to Wrexham away in two weeks with confidence and there is no reason we can't get a result there either."

Before that, the Bucks will have to negotiate an FA Trophy second round trip to AFC Fylde, for which Rea is cup-tied.

But he is already keen to return to action and can offer manager Steve Kittrick options in both midfield and defence if necessary.

He said: "I am predominantly a midfielder but I have been known to play right-back. I played it when I was younger and then moved into midfield.

"But if I need to do a job at right-back and we are short, then I am more than happy to help the team out there."
