Kyle Brownhill next for AFC Telford after Kyle Dixon and Jack Rea signing

AFC Telford are aiming to extend the loan of Kyle Brownhill until the end of the season – after completing a double swoop for Kyle Dixon and Jack Rea.

Brownhill, 19, was brought in from Conference North Hyde, initially on a one-month deal, in mid-November to help bolster an injury-ravaged squad.

He has since become a mainstay within the side, establishing himself as a virtual ever-present at left-back.

His current loan deal, which was extended in December, expires later this month but manager Steve Kittrick said: "Hopefully we are going to try to get him until the end of the season.

"We will be talking to Hyde in the next week or so."

Brownhill, who had not been playing regularly at Hyde prior to his move, is also keen to see the deal extended.

The full-back, who was last year released by Premier League Burnley having joined their development squad in 2013, has done an admirable job filling the gap left by injured vice-captain and fellow left-back Sean Clancy, who is not expected to be in contention until February after breaking his collarbone.

While new boss Kittrick hopes to extend Brownhill's stay, he has bolstered his squad by signing Notts County defender Dixon on loan until the end of the season and snapping up midfielder Rea from Bradford Park Avenue.

But the club have been dealt a blow with the news that defender Steve Akrigg has torn his anterior cruciate knee ligament and will miss the rest of the season.

Club captain Akrigg has not played since he was injured in the 2-1 defeat to Welling on December 9.

Bucks physio Christy Roberts said: "I have had the results through from the MRI scan and it is a big blow. He has got a full rupture of his of medial collateral and he has also torn the anterior cruciate as well.

"It is like a small tear and there is swelling on it and it more or less means he will be out for the season.

"I'd say it is going to be at least four months before he starts rehabilitation so it will most probably be the pre-season when he returns."

Meanwhile midfielder Godfrey Poku could be in the frame for a return to the starting line-up tomorrow having made the bench against Nuneaton after a knee injury. He left out of the starting XI as a precaution but Kittrick is more optimistic about his chances of playing against Aldershot.

But Kristian Platt remains more than a week away witha hamstring injury.
