Kyle Brownhill is impressed by AFC Telford's spirit

New signing Kyle Brownhill was impressed with his new AFC Telford team mates following their battling display at Barnet.

And the 19-year-old left-back, who joined on a one-month loan from Conference North Hyde on Friday, is aiming to play a big part in the coming games after making his debut from the bench.

Brownhill, who replaced the injured Neill Byrne 69 minutes into his team's 3-1 defeat at the Conference Premier leaders, saw the Bucks put up a spirited fight after conceding two early goals. They were eventually sunk when John Akinde completed his hat-trick with a late penalty – his second spot-kick of the game.

Brownhill said: "Obviously it was a tough game against Barnet but all the lads dug in deep.

"At 2-0 down early on we could have been rolled over but everyone kept going, we got a goal back and I don't think they were that threatening. It was just the penalties that cost us. It was my first game and I can see that the lads have got a never-back-down spirit, and keep going to the end."

Brownhill's move to the New Bucks Head, as cover for the injured Sean Clancy, came out of the blue.

But the talented ex-Stockport County youngster, who was recently released by Premier League Burnley having joined their development squad last year, didn't take much convincing to join the Bucks.

He said: "It was a strange one really. I just got a text off my gaffer saying 'do you want to go on loan to Telford?', so I said 'yes'.

"I just want to play football and progress."
