AFC Telford United manager Liam Watson is urging his team to seize the moment when they visit Basingstoke Town in the FA Cup.

The Bucks have never made the second round in their 10-year history.

Victory against the Dragons at the first hurdle tomorrow would be a milestone for the club, the players and their manager.

Watson said: "It is a great opportunity to get further in the competition than the players have probably ever have done before.

"I have been a manager for 15 years and I have had a steady record in the FA Cup but it would be the first time I've been to the second round, as well. This chance doesn't come around very often.

"This could be the year that we go on a good run, get a great draw and make the club a fortune. It is a great opportunity and one we need to capitalise on."

Standing in their way are a Basingstoke side that currently top the Conference South.

Watson refutes suggestions that his Conference Premier side, who are bottom of the table, will be favourites.

He said: "There is a gap between the top of the Conference South and the bottom of the Conference Premier. It is proven year-in year-out by the amount of teams that go up and struggle.

"But it is a one-off game, they are at home going into it full of confidence. They are one place behind us really so I don't think they will look at themselves as underdogs.

"We won't look at ourselves as underdogs. Both clubs will be looking at it as a winnable game."

Telford should be backed by around 200 travelling supporters.

Watson added: "The FA Cup is important financially for the club and, obviously, when we get good backing and support it does make a big difference."
