The Bucks, who remain bottom of the Conference Premier, had been understandably viewed by many as major underdogs going into the game against Garry Hill's second-placed side.

But a Mike Phenix brace and a Sam Smith strike ensured a surprising victory for the visitors, and Telford were well worth their win.

The Bucks enjoyed a dream start when Phenix headed them in front from Sean Clancy's excellent free-kick after just 10 minutes.

But debutant goalkeeper Freddy Hall had to produce a terrific flying save to prevent Josh Payne levelling midway through the half from a curling free-kick for the hosts.

Sam Smith went agonisingly close to doubling the Bucks' lead 13 minutes before the interval only for Woking keeper Ross Worner to smoother his close range effort at the far post.

And the Cards punished that missed opportunity when John Goddard prodded home on the rebound after Hall had saved Dean Morgan's initial effort.

It was a blow for Liam Watson's side but they regrouped and went ahead again just two minutes into the second half.

Ryan Higgins' long throw was flicked on by Mike Grogan and Phenix was on hand at the far post to head home.

And Smith really put them in the driving seat on the hour when he turned home Higgins' low cross after Worner had saved Phenix's effort at the far post.

Grogan and Phenix could have extended that lead in the final quarter of the game, heading wide from inviting positions.

But Hall did well to deny Scott Rendell in the final minute of stoppage time.
