AFC Telford United captain Steve Akrigg is out for up to six weeks - but defensive cohort Rod McDonald has declared himself fit.

Akrigg's hamstring injury was sustained in the second half of Saturday's creditable Conference Premier 1-1 draw at Kidderminster Harriers.

But the Bucks are boosted by the availability of McDonald for tonight's home clash against Forest Green Rovers.. He rolled his ankle in the warm-up on Saturday at Aggborough.

Watson said: "He will definitely be fit for tonight. It wasn't too bad in the end.

"Sometimes it happens with ankles where you initially think 'oh my god' and then the blood just flows back and it is not too bad. We have been quite lucky with him, to be honest."

Watson, who is also on the hunt for further new recruits, added : "It is looking like Steve will be out for four-to-six weeks, which is a bit of a blow."

Striker Sam Smith will be back in the squad having returned from a month-long loan at Brackley, while joint top scorer Mike Phenix is also expected to be fit having recovered from a sickness bug.

Telford will start tonight's game as underdogs against one of the division's richest teams.

But Watson has warned that big wages don't always equal success, and is backing his side to go toe-to-toe with their more illustrious foes.

He said: "Two of their players, if you add their wages together, are probably on the same as our whole squad is on, but it doesn't really count for anything."
