Free agents to join AFC Telford for pre-season
AFC Telford United manager Liam Watson will give trialists two weeks to catch his eye when the players return for pre-season training on Saturday.
Watson has 17 players on board for next season and will invite a couple of free agents, who will head to Shropshire in search of a club for the campaign.
The hard yards will begin with the first session scheduled for Wrekin College, with the Bucks boss returning from a short break to Las Vegas on Thursday.
He's expecting to see winger Mike Phenix, who will report back and operate on non-contract terms as his recovery from a stomach problem is assessed.
Another wide man, Robbie Booth, has an open invitation to join up with the squad but has been given no assurances on whether he has a long-term future.
Watson said: "I am happy with where we are, all of our pre-season is arranged and we will have a couple of trialists joining us, although there won't be many.
"I want 95 per cent of the players who are there to be with us going forward. The ones who are not will be told whether we will sign them before the first friendly.
"There's two weeks from Saturday before we play Blackburn Rovers at home. I wouldn't use players in games who I have no intention of signing."
On Phenix and Booth, Watson added: "As far as I am concerned, Mike is part of my plans and will be starting pre-season, the same as the rest of the lads.
"I have told 'Boothy' he is more than welcome to train with us, but I can't make him any promises in regard to a contract, at this stage."
Hereford United defender Rod McDonald has, as expected, put pen to paper on a one-year contact and will meet his new team-mates on Saturday.
Southport stopper Steve Akrigg, Witton Albion winger Josh Hancock and Grimsby Town goalkeeper Jonathan Hedge had all come aboard prior to that.
Chris Lever, Wes Baynes, Neill Byrne, Sean Cooke, Charlie Barnett, Sean Clancy, Tony Gray, Andy Owens and Mike Grogan all have another season of terms.
The club have taken up another year's option with striker Adam Farrell, while Phenix and player-coach Alan Moogan are operating on non-contract forms.
