AFC Telford hopeful of landing new striker
AFC Telford United believe they have made headway with attracting a new striker to the New Bucks Head before their transfer business cools.
Manager Liam Watson and his assistant Dominic Morley are both away on holiday next week, so signings will have to wait until they return.
But the Bucks boss and his No.2 are confident they are down the line towards signing a forward, although they won't reveal his identity.
They don't want to alert their rivals onto the trail of the out-of-contract marksman, apparently a tried and tested Skrill Conference Premier performer.
Morley said: "Liam has been on the phone trying to get a few things sorted and he had a decent chat regarding a forward, which seemed promising.
"He's spoken to the lad a couple of times now and he seems keen. His deal is up with the club he is at and we have been interested in him for a while.
"He's a Premier player, he's been at a couple of full-time clubs and he's still at a good age for us."
Rumours of a move for Barnsley's teenage defender Dean Freeman are wide of the mark, though, with the 18-year-old lacking in first-team experience.
