AFC Telford's Liam Watson makes new target

AFC Telford United manager Liam Watson today re-assessed his target for the rest of the season – but still aims to finish the campaign unbeaten.

The title-chasing Bucks extended their Skrill Conference North unbeaten run to 11 games, but a seven-match winning streak ended at Leamington.

Watson's side could only record a 2-2 draw, enabling second-placed North Ferriby United to go back to the top of the table by winning 2-0 at home to Stalybridge Celtic.

But Telford have their game in hand at Guiseley tomorrow night, who they had to thank the previous weekend for beating visiting North Ferriby 1-0.

Bucks' seven days back at the summit ended on Saturday but they could return to first place at Nethermoor Park, with Watson after four more wins.

He said: "Four wins and three draws would be enough, for me, you look at Saturday and remember we have three home games to make up some of that.

"Hopefully, we can get the New Bucks Head bouncing for them and that will be important for the players. Our fans were great again at Leamington.

"A week is a long time in football. We were happy the previous week because someone else had dropped points and now they are happy because we have.

"We got a point away from home, we have got to be thankful for that and take it on board going into an important week for us."

Telford did keep up their record of scoring in every away fixture this season, which stands at 17 games, following two more goals against the Brakes.

Watson said: "We have just got to go to Guiseley now and stay unbeaten, that's the challenge that we set ourselves for the last 15 games and we can still do it.

"We have got the character and desire to do it, but clean sheets are vital in the run in and we didn't keep one on Saturday. We scored a couple of goals but we always tend to away from home.

"There's four to go and that's 17 consecutive away games where we have scored, so that's one of our strengths. If we can keep five clean sheets, we will get to where we need to be.

"It's a big game on tomorrow and on Saturday against Altrincham at our place, so we need to regroup, see where we are and go again."
