AFC Telford keen to push on in promotion race

AFC Telford United boss Liam Watson today vowed to show no mercy to struggling Stalybridge Celtic as the club strive for the Skrill Conference North title.

The Bucks produced arguably their best footballing performance of the season in November's reverse fixture and have since stormed to the top of the table.

Watson's side won 3-1 at the New Bucks Head that day and Stalybridge haven't picked up since.

The Celts languish three points clear of the drop zone and brought in former Leeds United and Barnsley striker Liam Dickinson this week to help their cause.

Watson said: "I think they got us on a good day and, if it wasn't for their goalkeeper, it could have been an annihilation. But tomorrow is likely to be a different game.

"They have got good footballers and have just signed Dickinson. They are not in a bad run of form, either.

"They will get the utmost respect from us but we understand they have weaknesses, otherwise they wouldn't be where they are in the league.

"We will be looking to turn up, perform and capitalise on where we think we are stronger than them."

Watson again has a fully-fit squad to choose from for the trip to Bower Fold.
