AFC Telford United winger Sean Clancy today backed the club's army of volunteers to rush to the club's aid if their help is required on Saturday.

The Bucks have been left sweating on their Skrill Conference North game at home to Stockport County, after more bad weather in Shropshire this week.

Wolves under-21 side's game against their Norwich City counterparts at the ground on Monday night failed a pitch inspection and there's been more rain since.

The Telford squad trained on the all-weather pitches at Lilleshall Sports Centre last night, to give their own playing surface some much-needed respite.

But Clancy recalls the efforts of the club's players, staff and supporters on New Years Day against Hednesford Town that ultimately got the match played.

He said: "It's been a very wet winter and it's been frustrating, but we haven't lost a game yet at Telford and we want to keep that going until the end of the season.

"I remember the Hednesford game on New Year's Day, they did a fantastic job to get that on and the fans were there first thing in the morning to help out.

"I came out on to the pitch to warm up and they were still there with their forks trying to get the pitch right, it was such a great effort from everybody.

"It shows how much they care about the club and it makes you, as a player, want to try that extra bit harder for them."

Telford would complete their fourth two-week break from matches of the season if the game is called off, after last weekend's trip to Oxford City was postponed.

But Clancy and the players are desperate to return to action at the New Bucks Head on Saturday, for what could be a bumper gate between two well-attended clubs.

He said: "When you have a game called off, the next one can't come along fast enough. Hopefully, it's been refreshing for home fans to see how much we want to play here.

"The fans are great and Telford have such a good following, I knew that from when I played against them for Fleetwood. Their ground was always rocking.

"It stood out and, when the opportunity came along to play for them, I didn't have to think much about it. It's a big club that should be going forward, not back.

"I am glad to be a part of that and I feel I have settled in, so I am happy here."

Meanwhile, the Bucks have re-arranged the trip to Oxford City for Tuesday April 15, the date manager Liam Watson expected. Kick off is at 7.45pm.
