Liam Watson lines up Sean Clancy for AFC Telford recall

AFC Telford United manager Liam Watson today promised Sean Clancy he's in line for a recall after leaving the winger out of the starting line-up for the last three games.

The wide man was Watson's first signing last summer and has often been the first name on the team-sheet for the Bucks boss, but has had to settle for a cameo role in 2014 so far.

Watson says he's been handling Clancy with kid gloves, believing the 26-year-old is feeling the pace of his first full season of football at one club since 2010-11. A nomadic path saw him serve Halifax Town, Chester, Kidderminster Harriers and Southport for short spells since first leaving Fleetwood in March 2012.

And Watson has told the player his chance will come, particularly in the wake of last weekend's 1-0 defeat at home to Barrow.

He said: "There will be changes all of the time now; we have got a good 19-man squad and not one who you wouldn't consider a first-team player.

"Early in the season, Sean was by far our most potent performer. But the thing you have to take into account is that he's had a stop-start two years. It takes its toll.

"But it's never been my intention to leave him out permanently."

Telford completed the one-month loan signing of Luton Town winger Shaun Whalley yesterday.
