Loan extension for AFC Telford's Sean Cooke
AFC Telford United manager Liam Watson will today allow winger Sean Cooke to extend his loan spell at AFC Fylde until the end of the season.
Cooke's one-month terms expire today, but the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League club have approached the Bucks about an extension.
The wide man has been a hit back at his former club, who he left to sign a two-year deal in Shropshire last summer, since he was allowed to leave Telford.
The 21-year-old was transfer-listed last month after falling out-of-favour and Watson appears willing to let the player leave on a longer-term loan.
He said: "Fylde want to take Sean Cooke on loan until the end of the season and that's fine, as far as I am concerned."
The Telford boss is also set to grant permission for midfielder Martyn Jackson to spend a second month at Witton Albion, after he was sounded out about an extension.
Jackson has impressed at his third loan club in the Northern Premier League, after similar spells at Stafford Rangers and Skelmersdale United earlier this season.
Witton have set the wheels in motion for him to stay on a week before his deal is up, with Watson happy for the 19-year-old to continue his first-team education elsewhere.
He said: "Witton have asked to extend Martyn's loan, which is all of the evidence that you need that he is doing well there. He will be staying out."
Back at the New Bucks Head, right-back Wes Baynes will be passed fit for Saturday's Skrill Conference North visit of Barrow if he comes through training tonight.
Watson said: "Wes did a bit of work and had treatment on Tuesday night and, hopefully, he will join in training as normal tonight."
Captain Simon Grand is also ready to return after five games out with a calf injury and is battling with Dan Preston and Neill Byrne for places at centre-half.
Watson said: "Simon is ready to return now so it's all positives, really. I know, in my mind, what I am going to do with him for Saturday's game.
"If one of the current lads were to drop out, they can consider themselves very unlucky. But it's what you want, competition for places.
"We were conceding goals before 'Grandy' got injured, so that won't have any barring on my decision."
Fellow defender Chris Lever is, at least, another week away from rejoining the squad with another groin problem.
