Adam Farrell wants one over on Worcester City
AFC Telford United ace Adam Farrell today warned Worcester City he's a different proposition now as the two teams meet for the fourth time this season.
The Bucks' top scorer and his team-mates haven't found the net in three games against the Dragons this season, one in the league and two in the FA Trophy.
But Farrell has since moved to nine in the Skrill Conference North goal stakes and now faces increasingly beleaguered hosts.
Carl Heeley's side have slipped back into the relegation mire after back-to-back defeats, but have cast a spell over Liam Watson's side so far in this campaign.
And the 23-year-old forward wants an end to Worcester's run as the Bucks' bogey side tonight with strikes at Kidderminster Harriers' Aggborough ground, where the hosts are tenants.
He said: "I am happy to be the club's top goalscorer, but I would have liked a few more. I have come into good form, though, and I feel full of confidence.
"That's good, especially with games so close together. Hopefully, I can carry that on at Worcester, who we have played a few times and still not beat.
"We need to turn that around and get the top spot back. I know I am always going to get a chance to score, with the amount of opportunities that we create."
Telford first played out a goalless draw at home to Worcester in September's reverse fixture, recording a clean sheet for the first time in their opening nine matches.
It was a sign of things to come when Farrell did everything but score – hitting the post, crossbar and having one cleared off the line as the visitors escaped with a point.
He said: "We had so many chances during that game, so to come out with a 0-0 was pretty disappointing. Now we get back to playing them and will be looking for goals.
"It's funny how football is, I just couldn't score that night. The chances came so close to each other and I thought the header that hit the crossbar had gone in.
"I didn't think I could miss some of them and, at the end of it, I didn't know how I hadn't scored."
Telford renewed acquaintances with Worcester away from home in the FA Trophy at the end of November. Ironically, the same league fixture between the two had been scheduled for the same day.
Farrell and Co again drew a blank for a second goalless draw, before a first-half horror show at the New Bucks Head led to a 3-0 defeat in the replay three days later.
But the Telford hot-shot started 2014 in style and gained a measure of revenge on Hednesford Town, who put them out of the FA Cup, with the perfect hat-trick in a 5-3 home win on New Year's Day.
He said: "I created a few other chances at Worcester but, myself, didn't really get an opportunity to score. The replay at our place perhaps began what is us, at the minute, in starting off slow.
"We are trying to change that because we know will be punished, any team in this league can do that. The Worcester and Hednesford defeats, at home in the cups, were low points.
"We have moved on and are concentrating on the league now. We got Hednesford back, in the end, and we need to carry on this little run that we have got going.
"If we can get the form back we showed against Hednesford, we could really push on."
