Wes Baynes' injury a concern for AFC Telford
AFC Telford United today faced a selection poser for their Skrill Conference North trip to Worcester City with right-back Wes Baynes likely to be ruled out.
Baynes went off at half-time with a groin injury in Saturday's 2-2 draw at Harrogate Town and had to be replaced by winger Robbie Booth after the break.
Booth, unaccustomed to the role, nearly gave away a penalty with a clip on Harrogate substitute Jamal Smith in the closing stages and may not be considered the best option.
Baynes could spend up to a fortnight out while Chris Lever, who can play anywhere along the back four, is not yet fit to return after his own groin problems.
That leaves Watson pondering the best option for the game at Kidderminster Harriers' Aggborough ground, temporary home of the Dragons, tomorrow night.
The Bucks boss said: "Wes felt a little tweak in his groin and we will see how it settles down. He's a major doubt for tomorrow night. Chris won't be fit, so we will have to see what we can do."
Watson admitted his side may be tired, with the Worcester fixture representing their sixth game in 17 days. All of the previous five have come against favourites to challenge for promotion.
The Bucks lacked the drive on Saturday that fired them to the top of the table for the first time this season on New Year's Day, courtesy of a 5-3 victory over visiting Hednesford Town.
North Ferriby United are now in first place after recording a 1-0 win at Hednesford, with Watson's troops now trailing the table-toppers on goal difference.
And the Telford chief concedes the players may be feeling the pace, with no real time to prepare between each fixture.
He said: "To be honest, I was a little bit concerned coming into the game, because of the New Year's Day game and the heavy pitch. We haven't trained since then, either.
"I thought we started off leggy and didn't play well. We showed a bit of character to grind a result out but they will be disappointed.
"It's hard to be critical when you consider the amount of games that we have played. To come back twice, you can only give them credit.
"It's definitely a point gained, not two dropped. I am happy and have no complaints. But I am not kidding myself, I know we need to play a lot better than we did on Saturday."
