AFC Telford hat-trick hero wants more goals
Hat-trick hero Adam Farrell didn't get the goal return he wanted for AFC Telford United as a Christmas gift – so is keen to reach his end-of-season target.
The Bucks' top scorer plundered a perfect treble – scoring with his head, left and right foot – to put Telford top with a 5-3 home win over Hednesford Town.
The 23-year-old made it nine goals for the season so far after stepping up to the Skrill Conference North for the first time, signing a two-year contract to join from AFC Flyde.
Farrell is looking to at least emulate the 18 goals he scored in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League last season, after becoming the first Telford player to score a hat-trick on New Year's Day.
He said: "I always want to score goals and to get as many as I have for the team is always good. I had a target for Christmas, I didn't quite reach that but hopefully I can kick on now.
"It was 10 goals, so I will be concentrating on getting my target that I set for the end of the season now. It's around the 20 mark, same as I got last year. It's going well so far.
"I got a hat-trick for Flyde against Chorley, so I have done it before, but to do it like I did yesterday, was a great buzz. The crowd was brilliant and gave us a real boost.
"I am getting used to life here – all of the players around me, the stadium and playing for such a big club. I think my performances are getting better, too.
"It depends on the chances I get, but hopefully I can keep the run going. I like playing in the big games and I have got faith in my ability."
The Telford hot-shot now has Harrogate Town in his sights on Saturday, with Watson's players gunning for revenge after a 1-0 home defeat earlier in the season.
Farrell said: "I think we can push on now, build a good solid base and get Harrogate back for beating us earlier in the season when we go there on Saturday.
"I have never played at their place, but I have against the other Harrogate, the Railway club, when I was at Lancaster City and lost!"
