Promotion the target for 2014 says AFC Telford's Liam Watson
AFC Telford United manager Liam Watson today challenged his side to enter 2014 in the Skrill Conference North promotion shake-up as they plough headlong into the festive period.
Tomorrow's clash against Brackley Town at the New Bucks Head could prove to be a Christmas cracker as fifth meet third in the table, with both sides jostling for position at the top end.
Watson's side jumped into the play-off places with a hard-fought 1-0 win at Workington last weekend and are determined to stand their ground.
A battle with Brackley is merely the cherry on the Christmas cake with a double header to come home and away with rivals Hednesford, with the visit of Boston United sandwiched in-between.
And Watson is looking for his side to set down a marker, saying: "We want to be in contention at the start of the New Year and the only way you can do that is get consistency.
"I don't think we have been overly consistent all season. We are not in a bad position, but I just want us to kick on as a group and, especially in these type of games, it's all about the team."
Tomorrow's home game is being billed as a festive fun day. From 1pm, a social fan-zone run by the Telford Fans Team will be open for kids of all ages, including football games and face painting.
