Liam Watson aiming to strengthen AFC Telford midfield
AFC Telford United manager Liam Watson plans to use any cash from the sale of transfer-listed winger Sean Cooke to bolster the Bucks' central midfield options.
Cooke was placed on the transfer list yesterday after discussions between the two parties the previous night.
And there is already interest in snapping up the former AFC Fylde goal-machine, who last season netted 23 goals for the Evo-Stik Premier side.
Asked if Watson would look to replace him should a deal be struck, he said: "Obviously it frees money up and if money is freed up I'd like to utilise it.
"I would probably strengthen in other areas. I'd perhaps put it towards a centre-midfielder."
Watson, who was today due to take his team to Workington, has spoken of the need for more drive in the middle of the park following back-to-back defeats against Worcester City and Leamington.
But his midfield options have been boosted by the return of Russell Benjamin after five matches out with a knee problem.
